WSL vs Free Surf

Uno de los grandes dilemas del SURF es el valor que tiene ser un surfista profesional en estos tiempos.

Por un lado, tenemos el circuito WSL que se supone que engloba los mejores surfistas de la actualidad: Jhon Jhon Florence, Filipe Toledo, Gabriel Media… y como no, la leyenda KELLY SLATER. Por el otro, hay un gran número de personas que consideran que los mejores surfistas del momento son lo que no se venden con las grandes marcas ni con circuitos profesionales, pero que tienen la esencia de este deporte por sus venas.

Como muchas cosas en esta vida, una de las soluciones es hacer un listado de pros y contras para ver tanto las cosas positivas y las cosas negativas que aportan cada de las opiniones:

PROS del surf profesional:

Se da a conocer el deporte por todo el mundo;

Puedes difrutar viendo a los surfistas profesionales surfeando las mejores olas;

Genera riqueza en aquellos pueblos /ciudades donde se celebra el campeonato

Trasmite valores positivos para la sociedad

CONTRAS del surf profesional:

Las MARCAS han tomado el control sobre el deporte

El circuito aparta al surfista no-profesional durante la celebración del campeonato;

Se eligen los spots por la posibilidad de generar riqueza más que por la calidad de las olas;

Los surfistas se han convertido en «super-stars» y con ello ha aparecido la arrogancia y la prepotencia;

PROS del freesurf:

Mantiene los valores clásicos del surf como el espíritu aventurero;

No se han vendido a las grandes marcas, con lo que puede hacer y decir lo que quieran;

Surfean las olas de mejor calidad, ya que no tienen que depender de nada ni de nadie;

Siguen su instinto en la búsqueda de lo inexplorado;

CONTAS del freesurf:

El LOCALISMO de algunos freesurfers crean situaciones incómodas en según que picos;

Aunque no se vendan a las grandes marcas, no pueden vivir de ello;

No todos los freesurfer tiene los valores que quiere representar este deporte;

La vida de un freesurfer puede ser dura en según que situaciones.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
